The "golden triangle" — Delhi, Agra and Jaipur — packs the Taj Mahal, Mughal forts and the pink city into a loop you can drive comfortably. The roads are good; what makes or breaks the trip is the planning, and not having to think about any of it while you're there.
The routes
Delhi to Agra runs down the Yamuna Expressway — fast and straightforward, roughly three to four hours. Agra to Jaipur takes you via Fatehpur Sikri if you want the detour, around four to five hours. Jaipur back to Delhi on NH48 closes the loop. A chauffeur who knows these roads keeps the timings realistic and the stops sensible.
How many days?
You can see Agra in a long day trip from Delhi, but the full triangle deserves two to three days to be enjoyable rather than rushed. A common rhythm: Delhi to Agra (night), Agra to Jaipur (night), Jaipur back to Delhi. That gives each city its morning, when the light and the crowds are kindest.
Timing the monuments
The Taj is at its best early, and is closed on Fridays — worth planning around. Forts and palaces are gentler in the morning or late afternoon. Having your own car and chauffeur means you move on your timetable, not a tour group's, and your driver waits while you take it all in.
